In everyday life

Not everything worth keeping is an achievement. Most of what makes a year good is small, ordinary and gone from memory by the next weekend. You Rock is a place to put those moments before they slip away.

Often it's the little decisions that stay with you. Dropping everything to get outside because the weather was lovely is the kind of thing that's worth writing down.

What to collect

Small things that made you smile

The walk you took that turned your day around, the message you sent on a whim, the detour you made because you felt like it. Little decisions, and you're still smiling about them hours later.

Small things you're proud of

You cooked instead of ordering. You made the phone call you'd been avoiding. You got outside. These count, even though nobody's keeping score.

Chances you were glad you took

The invitation you said yes to, the trip you booked, the thing you tried without knowing whether you'd be any good at it. You can be grateful for the chance and still give yourself credit for taking it.

Ordinary days worth keeping

Some days aren't remarkable and are still the ones you'd want back. Write down what you actually did with it — a line or two is enough to bring the whole day with it later.

Why it's worth saving

  • Good weeks blur together and disappear
  • The hard days pass more easily with proof of the good ones
  • Looking back on a year and finding more than just the big events
  • Noticing what actually makes you happy, once it's written down

Start collecting

Add moments as they happen, a few sentences at a time. It takes almost no effort, and in a few months you'll have something you'll be glad you kept.
